Balint Weekend and Leaders’ Workshop and International Balint Federation Board and Council meeting

You are invited to attend the eighth Balintweekend in the North East which we are holding jointly with the InternationalBalint Federation this year, welcoming friends and colleagues from all over theworld. The Balint weekend will be of interest to GPs, psychotherapists,psychiatrists and others including those experienced in Balint workand people who have not tried it before. It will be an opportunity toparticipate in a Balint group throughout the weekend and may appeal to thosewho are unable to join a regular group.
Balint Leaders’ workshop
The leaders’ workshop will run in parallel forthose who would like to examine and develop their skills in leading Balint groups. You may be leading a group for trainees, GPs,psychiatrists or other health professionals. The workshop will count towards Balintgroup leader accreditation – moredetails of accreditation are on the Balint society website.
Accommodationand costs Participants areencouraged to come and stay for the whole weekend at Longhirst Hall www.longhirst.co.uk a comfortable conference centre with good foodand lovely grounds set in the Northumberland countryside. The cost of theweekend includes bed and breakfast, conference facilities and all meals,including Saturday evening coach trip and dinner. There is a considerable reduction if youshare a room with another delegate. Anon-residential rate is also available for those living locally who are notable to stay. Partners wishing to comebut not attend the conference can stay for £50 per night dinner, bed and breakfast. Please see the application formfor details of costs.
Dinner bed and breakfastcan be arranged directly with the hotel if required on Thursday or Sundaynight. This is not included in the costof the weekend.
Saturday evening We take a coach trip to Bamburgh through thebeautiful Northumberland countryside and walk on wide sandy beaches where the brave or foolhardy can indulge in a swimin the North Sea – bring a costume. Dinner will be in at the Castle Inn, Bamburgh.
The detailed programme is on the following pages. The International Balint Federation Council meeting will run in a parallel sessionon Saturday afternoon, with a workshop and talk for those who do not wish toattend the IBF meeting.
